Curriculum Delivery & Instruction

• Plan, prepare, and deliver Agriculture lessons in line with the national secondary curriculum and

syllabus requirements.

• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment schedules for all assigned classes.

• Deliver engaging theoretical lessons covering crop science, animal husbandry, soil science,

agri-business, and farm management.

• Set, administer, and mark class tests, assignments, and examinations, providing timely and

constructive feedback.

• Track learner performance and progress, identifying gaps and providing remedial support where

needed.

• Prepare students for national and internal examinations, ensuring syllabus coverage within the

academic calendar.

Practical & Farm-Based Instruction

• Plan and supervise practical lessons on the school farm, garden, or demonstration plots.

• Guide students in hands-on activities including planting, crop management, animal rearing, irrigation,

and record-keeping.

• Maintain the school farm/garden as a functional teaching resource, ensuring it reflects current best

practices.

• Oversee the safe use, maintenance, and storage of farm tools, equipment, and inputs (seeds,

fertilizers, agro-chemicals).

• Organize student projects, field trips, and demonstrations that reinforce classroom learning with

real-world application.

• Ensure health and safety standards are observed during all practical and field-based activities.

Student Guidance & Mentorship

• Mentor students interested in agriculture-related career paths, including further studies and

agribusiness opportunities.

• Encourage participation in agriculture clubs, exhibitions, competitions, and community outreach

programs.

• Provide guidance and support to students on projects, portfolios, and practical assessments.

• Model discipline, responsibility, and a strong work ethic in both classroom and field settings.

Resource & Farm Management

• Prepare and manage the budget for farm inputs, tools, and practical activities in collaboration with

school administration.

• Maintain accurate records of farm production, inputs, sales (where applicable), and inventory.

• Identify opportunities to generate income or in-kind benefits for the school through farm produce, in

line with school policy.

• Ensure proper storage, maintenance, and stock control of agricultural tools, equipment, and

consumables.

Teamwork & Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with the Director of Studies and fellow subject teachers to align academic

planning.

• Participate in departmental meetings, staff briefings, and school-wide events.

• Collaborate with school leadership on co-curricular activities related to agriculture and environmental

stewardship.

• Engage parents and the local community in supporting students' practical agricultural learning where

appropriate.

Other Duties

• Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership as needs arise.

What We're Looking For


Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Education (Agriculture), Agricultural Science, or a related

field.

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years' teaching experience at secondary school level, preferably teaching

Agriculture.

• Sound knowledge of the national secondary Agriculture curriculum and Ministry of Education

guidelines.

• Practical knowledge of crop production, animal husbandry, and general farm management.

• A demonstrated personal Christian faith and commitment to Christ-centered education.

Behavioral Competencies

• Passionate about teaching and mentoring young people in agriculture and practical life skills.

• Patient, hands-on, and comfortable leading outdoor and field-based instruction.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills, balancing classroom and farm responsibilities.

• High level of integrity, responsibility, and accountability for school resources.

• Collaborative team player who contributes positively to the wider school community.

Technical Competencies

• Strong command of Agriculture subject content, including crop science, animal science, and

agri-business.

• Skilled in practical/field instruction, demonstration techniques, and farm supervision.

• Competent in lesson planning, assessment design, and academic record-keeping.

• Basic proficiency in using technology for lesson preparation and record-keeping.

• Capable of maintaining a safe, organized, and productive school farm/garden environment.
