The Medium Voltage Electrical Motor Stator & Rotor Carpenter is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, modification, and repair of wooden and non-metallic components used in medium voltage electric motor stators and rotors. This role supports motor manufacturing, refurbishment, and rewind operations by constructing precise fixtures, supports, blocking, bracing, and insulation-related structures in accordance with engineering drawings, quality standards, and safety requirements.

  • Fabricate, assemble, and install wooden components used in stator and rotor construction, including:
  • Coil supports, wedges, spacers, blocking, bracing, and insulation supports
  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions related to motor stator and rotor assemblies
  • Perform layout, cutting, shaping, drilling, and fitting of wood, laminated materials, phenolics, and insulation boards
  • Assist with stator and rotor preparation for winding, rewinding, and final assembly
  • Repair or replace damaged wooden or insulation components during motor refurbishment
  • Ensure dimensional accuracy and proper fit of all fabricated components
  • Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently
  • Collaborate with winding, electrical, mechanical, and quality teams to meet production requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety and housekeeping standards
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong carpentry skills with experience in precision fabrication
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of materials used in motor construction (hardwoods, laminates, insulation boards, phenolics)
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop machinery
  • High attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Understanding of basic motor construction principles (stator, rotor, windings)
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good problem-solving and measurement skills
