Managerial Leader II, Engineering

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To establish, implement and lead a best-practice Engineering function across assigned sites. The role operationalises engineering strategy through the effective management of managers, engineers and specialists to ensure safe, reliable, cost-effective operations, capital project delivery, asset integrity and business continuity

You will have the following:

  • N6, National Diploma, or equivalent in Engineering.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering and MBA/MBL is preferred.
  • GCC (Government Compliance Certificate) or professional certificate in Engineering.
  • 10 years’ experience in senior management in a mine and works environment.
  • Exposure to the underground mining industry advantageous
  • Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Knowledge of French and Swahili will be considered highly advantageous.

Technical Skills should include:

  • Engineering design

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:

  • Drive, coordinate and manage the Engineering division for the sites under the scope of this role
  • Engineering Leadership & Governance - Design, establish and embed effective and efficient engineering structures, plans and governance structures
  • Capital Projects & Engineering Delivery
  • Asset Management & Maintenance Excellence - Maintain systems to ensure business continuity during maintenance management phase
  • Business Continuity & Operational Support
  • Function as a subject matter expert on Engineering
  • Drive effective problem solving and improvemen
  • Stakeholder Management- Drive relationships with stakeholders to enable optimisation of the business value chain
  • People: Manage a business unit that values differences and creates an inclusive work environment
  • Finance: Forecast and secure the business unit budget as per Delegation of Authority Matrix
  • Support transformation in terms of people, automation/ digitisation and sustainability and provide adequate change management to underpin initiatives
  • HSEQ - Drive HSEQ as a key aspect of organisational culture
  • Manage Reporting and Governance for area of responsibility
