Payroll Consultant

We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Payroll Consultant to join our Shared Services HR function. The successful candidate will work closely with the Group Payroll and Remuneration Manager and will be responsible for supporting and coordinating payroll operations across multiple business properties nationally, including Botswana operations.

This role requires a senior payroll professional with strong technical payroll expertise, exceptional legislative knowledge, and the ability to operate within a complex, high-volume, multi-site environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the end-to-end payroll function within a centralised shared services environment.
• Ensure accurate and timeous payroll processing for multiple business units across South Africa and Botswana.
• Work closely with the Group Payroll and Remuneration Manager on payroll governance, reporting, reconciliations, and compliance.
• Maintain payroll integrity and ensure all payroll transactions comply with statutory and company requirements.
• Administer payroll accounting interfaces and reconciliations between payroll and finance systems.
• Assist with payroll audits, tax submissions, COIDA submissions and legislative reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with:
• South African tax legislation
• BCEA, UIF, WCA etc
• Labour legislation and employment-related regulations
• Statutory payroll requirements
• Manage payroll queries and provide expert payroll support to management and employees.
• Support remuneration and benefits administration processes.
• Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy within HR and payroll systems.
• Liaise with Finance, HR Business Partners, and operational management across all properties.
• Assist with process improvements, payroll controls, and system optimisation initiatives.
• Support month-end and year-end payroll processes, reconciliations, and reporting.
