Job Title: Training Specialist / Store Trainer

Location:​ Kampala, Uganda

Department:​ Operations / People & Culture

1. Core Mission

To build a high-performing local team in Uganda by delivering standardized, practical training on beverage making, customer service, and food safety. You will ensure every store in Kampala operates with consistent quality, upholding the brand's reputation in a new and dynamic market.

2. Key Responsibilities

  • New Hire Onboarding:​ Conduct comprehensive induction for all new recruits (baristas, servers, cleaners) on company culture, policies, and basic job skills.
  • Product Mastery:​ Train staff on standard recipes, milk tea brewing, coffee extraction, and strict hygiene protocols. Ensure every cup meets the brand's taste standard, specifically addressing challenges related to tropical climate storage.
  • Skill Assessment:​ Conduct monthly skill audits (practical tests) at stores. Identify skill gaps and provide targeted "re-training" to underperforming staff.
  • Localization:​ Translate complex technical terms into simple English or local languages (Luganda / Swahili) to ensure local staff understand instructions clearly and safely.
  • SOP Implementation:​ Assist the Operations Manager in rolling out Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all outlets, including specific protocols for power backup (generators/inverters) and water purification.

3. Requirements

Education:​ Diploma or Degree in Hospitality, Food Science, or a related field.


Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years​ of training experience in F&B (Coffee, Bubble Tea, or Fast Food).
  • Must have experience training local East African staff.​ Experience with international chains (e.g., KFC, Java House, Domino’s, Café Javas) is a huge plus.
  • Language:​ Fluent in English. The ability to speak Luganda or Swahili is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills:​ Must be proficient in beverage preparation techniques and familiar with local health and safety regulations.
  • Soft Skills:​ Patient, detail-oriented, and capable of demonstrating tasks physically (showing, not just telling).
