Job Description
Senior Account Executive – Freight Forwarding & Logistics
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Senior Account Executive with strong experience in freight forwarding and logistics to support the continued growth of an international logistics organization expanding in West Africa.
This role is ideal for a highly active sales professional with deep industry knowledge and an existing network among importers and logistics decision-makers. The position focuses on developing new business, managing key accounts, and strengthening long-term partnerships within the freight and logistics sector.
The Role
The Senior Account Executive will be responsible for driving commercial growth by identifying new opportunities, managing strategic accounts, and building long-term relationships with key importers and industry partners.
The role covers sea freight, air freight and local logistics services, requiring strong market knowledge and the ability to manage the full commercial cycle—from prospecting to closing and account development.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the freight forwarding and logistics market
- Generate a strong pipeline through consistent client visits, networking and market outreach
- Develop and present tailored sales proposals and logistics solutions to prospective clients
Account Management
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with strategic accounts to support organic growth
- Negotiate and close commercial agreements with key customers
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction, retention and repeat business
- Attend industry events and meetings to strengthen relationships with clients and partners
Sales Strategy & Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal teams including operations, customer service and marketing to ensure smooth execution of shipments and client satisfaction
- Maintain strong relationships with shipping lines and logistics partners
- Contribute to the development of regional sales strategies and market expansion initiatives
Reporting & Performance Management
- Track and report on sales activities, pipeline development and account performance
- Prepare regular reports and forecasts using key sales and account metrics
- Maintain accurate records in CRM systems and internal reporting tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics or a related field
- 6–8 years of professional sales experience, including at least 2-3 years within freight forwarding or logistics
- Strong understanding of freight forwarding operations including sea freight and air freight
- Knowledge of major shipping lines
- Proven ability to generate new business and close commercial deals
- Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a results-driven environment
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
