  • Ensure the accuracy and precision of all test and calculations are performed correctly.
  • Record in the laboratory workbook all raw data/calculations for test performed.
  • Request samples as and when required
  • Ensure calibrations schedule for monthly standards designed to assist process control is adhered to.
  • Adherence to health and safety policies of the laboratory
  • Communicate with clients and terminal personnel as and when required.
  • Adherence to company policies i.e. compliance, safety, etc
  • Witness analysis at subcontracting laboratory.
  • Available for call out or standby duties when required.
  • Work overtime as and when required
  • Ensure that sufficient stocks of chemicals, glassware, stationery and other items necessary for the continuity of laboratory tasks
  • Ensure that good house keeping is practised at all times
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and calibrated
  • Be computer literate using Microsoft word and excel
  • Be able to interpret and draw conclusions from test data
  • Work independently
  • Responsible for reporting opinions and interpretations of test data
  • Development, modification and validation of new and existing methods
  • Maintain the quality system that the laboratory adopts
  • Laboratory training manuals comprising of theory and practical assignments to be completed within timeframes given by Laboratory Management
  • Identify trends of analytical results produced.
  • To be available for rotational shift work as and when required.
