Shape the Future with Us! A rewarding opportunity awaits a skilled Junior Welder at NBL Westmead Biscuits in Westmead, Durban. Your role will be to ensure that general site repairs and maintenance is done effectively and safely to minimize plant downtime. This should be done to a good standard of workmanship with the aim of maintaining and continuously improve all plant and utilities on site.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to: Engineering Manager
Key Areas of Impact:
- Fabrication of components and structures to support plant maintenance and improvement initiatives
- Welding of stainless steel and aluminium components in accordance with required standards
- Conducting general welding repairs on plant equipment and infrastructure
- Assisting with preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with safety, quality, and food safety standards
- Maintaining tools and equipment in good working condition
- Supporting continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives within the engineering function
What It Takes to Succeed:
Experience that set you up for success:
- 2-5 years’ welding or fabrication experience (preferably in a manufacturing environment)
Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Relevant welding qualification/certificate (advantageous)
- Basic knowledge of fabrication and welding techniques (stainless steel and aluminium)
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings
Additional Requirements that will enhance your impact for success:
- Willingness to work overtime when required
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
