Attorney (Legal Recoveries)SandtonSalary negotiable depending on experience A highly respected and fast-growing law firm is seeking to appoint a strong Litigation Attorney to join their expanding Recoveries division.

Minimum requirements:

  • LLB & Admitted Attorney
  • 3–5 years’ post-admission experience in legal collections / recoveries
  • Exposure to secured lending litigation (advantageous)
  • Experience in high-volume litigation environments
  • 2–3 years’ post-admission team management experience
  • Strong Excel skills (essential) including Pivot Tables, reporting and data analysis
  • Experience within VAF (Vehicle Asset Finance) recoveries essential
  • Home Loans recoveries experience essential
  • Credit Card recoveries experience essential
  • Business Loan recoveries experience advantageous
  • Foreclosure experience advantageous
  • Experience with litigation within recoveries from inception to execution essential
  • Strong understanding of post-judgment and execution processes
  • Experience with execution against immovable property highly advantageous
  • Candidate must be open to exploring the automotive recoveries space
  • Ambitious individual with the ability to lead a team into success through strategic business planning
  • Interest in growing within a tech-driven environment and contributing to innovation within the team

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage high-volume litigation from summons to judgment and recovery
  • Handle litigation within recoveries from Sec 129 stage through to execution
  • Manage post-judgment recoveries and execution processes
  • Draft and review pleadings, summons, and judgment packs
  • Oversee vehicle recoveries, voluntary surrenders, and settlements
  • Manage execution processes relating to VAF, Home Loans, Credit Cards, and Business Loans
  • Attend to foreclosure and execution applications where applicable
  • Monitor performance, trends, and risk within the portfolio
  • Lead and manage legal secretaries and admin staff
  • Maintain accurate system and workflow updates (e.g. Cheetah)
  • Liaise with sheriffs, correspondent attorneys, and clients
  • Handle queries, escalations, and legal risks
  • Report on performance and forecasts
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • NCA, Prescription Act, FICA & Debt Collectors Act
    • Magistrates’ & High Court Rules
    • Companies Act, CPA & Municipal legislation
  • Manage billing, reporting, and financial targets
