Electrical Engineer (Mining Projects)

Our client is seeking an experienced Mining Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the successful delivery of electrical engineering projects within the mining sector. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex projects across their full lifecycle, from concept development through to commissioning and operational handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering activities across mining and industrial projects.
• Deliver electrical designs for surface and underground mining operations.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, milestones, and technical deliverables.
• Design and review mine power supply systems, substations, and MV/LV reticulation networks.
• Develop solutions involving renewable energy systems, hybrid power generation, and backup power systems.
• Conduct system performance calculations, lifecycle assessments, and cost estimates.
• Ensure compliance with applicable mining legislation, industry standards, and electrical codes.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, OEMs, and clients.
• Identify and mitigate project and technical risks.
• Support commissioning activities and operational handover processes.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng, BSc, or BTech in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA.
• Minimum 12 years’ relevant experience within mining, heavy industrial, or process plant environments.
• Strong background in electrical power systems and project delivery.
• Experience with substations, power distribution systems, MCCs, grounding, and lighting systems.
• Sound knowledge of mining regulations, standards, and best engineering practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
