Position : Logistics Manager - Accra

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Logistics Manager to join our team. This role will oversee the efficient and effective management of the company’s logistics operations, ensuring that products are delivered to customers on time and at the right cost. The Logistics Manager will work closely with procurement, warehousing, and transportation teams to coordinate the movement of goods, optimize supply chain processes, and implement best practices for inventory management, transportation, and distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and manage logistics strategies to optimize transportation, storage, and distribution of goods.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the logistics function, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products.
• Manage inventory levels to balance supply and demand, minimizing costs while maintaining high service levels.
• Coordinate and monitor the movement of goods across various transportation modes (road, air, sea).
• Lead and supervise a team of logistics coordinators and support staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Work closely with internal departments, including procurement, sales, and production, to forecast demand and align logistics strategies accordingly.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements within all logistics operations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
• Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers and service providers to optimize costs and service levels.
• Monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and resolve any service issues that arise.
• Utilize logistics software to track shipments, inventory, and transportation costs, providing regular reports to senior management.
• Analyze logistics data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement in the supply chain.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, cost per shipment, and inventory turnover.
• Continuously assess logistics processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
• Implement best practices for logistics and supply chain management, leveraging technology and automation where applicable.
• Develop and manage logistics budgets, ensuring cost-effective transportation and storage solutions.
• Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure that logistics operations meet budgetary constraints.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
• Proven experience managing logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
• Strong understanding of logistics software and systems (e.g., TMS, WMS, ERP).
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage cross-functional teams.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and using software tools to track and improve logistics performance.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance standards (e.g., DOT, OSHA, import/export regulations).
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
