Mobile Crane Operator Job Description
As a mobile crane operator, you are responsible for operating mobile cranes to lift and move heavy objects, materials, and equipment at construction sites, industrial facilities, and other locations. You would also need to ensure the safe and efficient movement of loads, adhering to all safety regulations and industry best practices. The role requires a combination of technical skills, physical stamina, and a strong understanding of load capacities and rigging techniques.
Mobile Crane Operator Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently operate mobile cranes to lift, move, and position heavy objects, equipment, and materials according to project requirements.
Perform pre-operational inspections and maintenance checks on the crane, ensuring it is in optimal working condition before operation.
Set up the crane at job sites, ensuring stability and safety measures are in place, such as outriggers, cribbing, and proper rigging techniques.
Interpret and follow lifting plans and signals from signalpersons or riggers to ensure accurate and safe crane movements.
Assess load weights and determine load capacities to ensure safe lifting operations, making necessary adjustments as required.
Communicate effectively with team members, including signalpersons, riggers, and supervisors, to ensure coordinated and safe lifting operations.
Adhere to all relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies, maintaining a strong focus on safety at all times.
Monitor and maintain the proper function of crane controls, ensuring they are responsive and functioning correctly during operations.
Keep accurate records of crane usage, maintenance, and inspections, reporting any issues or concerns to supervisors.
Continuously update knowledge of industry best practices, new equipment, and safety protocols to improve job performance.
